Rachel joined The Jones Studio Winter of 2015 as an interior designer; after graduating from Miami University with a BFA Interior Design and academic focus in Anthropology.
While studying abroad in Ghana, she traveled to all ten regions before undertaking a design/build project in the Village of Abrafo. With no power tools or readily available supplies, the team used local expertise in mixing and molding materials. This is where she learned the craft of building by hand; prompting her woodworking hobby.
While her aesthetic is fresh and modern, her design work in Over-The-Rhine, Cincinnati OH, renovating an historic building into a restaurant solidified a sense of respect for the importance of history as both context for design and an aid in placemaking.
